Service Description

A licensed child care facility that provides care and supervision for up to 25 children between the ages of 18 months and kindergarten. Interested parents/guardians must use links provided on the website at www.rootsoflearningchildcare.com to add their name to the waitlist.

Philosophy

  • Developed on a philosophy of inclusion, acceptance, and guidance.
  • Believe that all children have a right to learn and grow at a developmentally appropriate pace.
  • Children in their care will be guided to learning skills in all areas of development.
  • Believe providing a positive, caring, and varied program is most important.
  • Believe it is important for children to learn acceptance of others, problem solving, social skills, self regulation, and independence, as well as fine gross motor and cognitive skills.
  • Work in partnership with parents/families, communicating regularly, taking their feedback and suggestions, to adapt programming to children’s individual needs.

Programs and Activities

  • Provide a strong balance of child led, play based, and teacher initiated activities.
  • Schedule allows for many intervals of free play time and the children have choice in participating in more structured programming.
  • Staff are continually adapting to individual children’s needs in allowing them to try new activities and providing access to all equipment.
  • Staff listen to and encourage self expression and follow children’s interests, when expressed, to work with their enthusiasm to learn new things – staff presents choice and ideas to the group to inspire new learning.
  • Day is structured in the following order: free play, snack, free play/taking turns at structured learning activity, outside play, lunch, nap/quiet time/quiet play, outside play, snack, and free play.

Nutrition

  • Provide nutrition to ensure children’s optimal health and growth and provide a variety of meals that encourage children to be open and accepting of new tastes and textures.
  • Have a six week rotational menu, pancakes and ham to jambalaya, spaghetti and meat sauce to stir fry and rice.
  • Lunch always includes vegetable or fruit, as do snacks.
  • Are diligent to adhere to special diets. Parents are required to provide alternatives when necessary.
