Child Care

A licensed child care facility that provides care and supervision for up to 78 children between the ages of six weeks and 12 years. Child Care Subsidy accepted.

Philosophy

• Believe that seeing the child as competent and capable, and teaching children at their level and following their lead, are the most important aspects about educating and nurturing children.
• Believe it is most important for children to learn self regulation skills and emotional intelligence – believe if children are able to conquer these skills then they are able to focus and learn better later in life.
• Centre utilizes HiMama application, so parents are able to see the learning their children do every day. 
• Centre has an open door policy and works with parents to ensure they are caring and teaching their child in the most beneficial ways, while still respecting cultural and personal differences.

Programs and Activities

• Centre has a play-based program. 
• Centre has certain times of the day for eating and playing outside, but there are also invitations set up throughout the centre and outdoor play space for the children to explore – the invitations are thoughtful and purposeful for certain skills they are trying to foster in the children within their program. 
• Centre eats family style and children serve themselves their foods and drinks. (with help if needed)
• Centre always meets the child at their level. 
• If children are interested in a certain subject, staff will create invitations to provoke learning, utilizing that subject.
• Some Tagalog spoken with the children and some Filipino games are played with the children. 

Nutrition

• Believe that with proper nutrition, bodies are able to better handle the stresses of the day, both physical and emotional.
• Provides morning and afternoon snack with at lease one fruit or vegetable per snack – lunch has all four food groups – a glass of milk is offered at both morning snack and lunch time.
• Parents are able to bring their child food if there is a special dietary requirement.
