Service Description
Offers free legal advice, information and guidance, to anyone who cannot afford paid legal services and does not qualify for Legal Aid Alberta. Appointments are 30-45 minutes in length, provided by a volunteer lawyer, and offered by phone or in-person. If clients need more help, they can come back for advice as they move through their legal issue.
Legal Advice Programs include:
- Summary Advice Clinics – Offers free legal advice, information and guidance to anyone who cannot afford paid legal services.
- Social Benefits Advocacy – Offers information, advice and guidance to those facing challenges with the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) program.
- Indigenous Law – Is one of the first legal non-profit pro bono organizations to actively advocate on behalf of Indigenous people.
- Domestic Violence/Family Law – Offers education and legal advice to survivors of family/intimate partner violence, including protection orders, safety, and strategies for the future.
- Immigration Law – Offers legal advice about immigration law issues including family sponsorship and refugee protection.
- Elder Law – Offers assistance to seniors with Estate planning and advance care planning.
- Homeless Outreach – Offers support and guidance (not legal representation) to those experiencing homelessness.
- Pre-Apprehension Child Welfare Program – Provides legal advice and support to parents/guardians who are involved with Children’s Services prior to their child(ren) being apprehended.
- Survivors of Sexual Assault – Offered to anyone 18 years of age or older who has experienced sexual violence at any time. Provides information, support and connections to service providers.

Eligibility
Low-income and people experiencing social barriers who cannot otherwise afford legal services.
