Service Description
Space for single women and single women with children fleeing violence
- six rooms (with private bathroom) – holds up to 22 people
- staff advocates for accessing housing, legal aid, community services
- transportation to shelter and programs available
Eligibility
Single women and women with children affected by domestic violence
Minors ages 16 years or older with no parental accompaniment welcome
NOTE: men will not be admitted into the shelter, but assistance and referrals to other agencies who house men of domestic violence will be given
Application Process
Self-referral or referral by nursing, mental health, NNADAP, RCMP with consent of the client
Call - if referral, client must speak to shelter before being admitted
Interview completed over the phone
If shelter full, client is put on a wait list based on their situation (prioritized as low, high, or immediate)
