Service Description

Long term care is provided in special care homes. The goals are to:

  • achieve and maintain optimal holistic care, based on best practice
  • create a home-like environment that fosters respect, safety, dignity and compassion for all
  • empower the client to be active in their care while respecting their individual choices
  • promote a positive work culture


Persons who are elderly, disabled or chronically ill and who need care 24/7 hours. Admission is based on an assessment of health and personal needs (accessed through the Home Care Program).

Application Process

Admission is based on an assessment of health and personal needs (accessed through the Home Care Program).

Individuals who are assessed and do not meet the qualifications for admission to a Special Care Home, but who may require assistance could find more information about support from Home Care or a personal care home. There are subsidies available for individuals in personal care homes.
