Advocacy

Advocates for victims of sexual violence by accompanying victims/survivors to the hospital, police station and court, as requested by the client. Centre is active in mainstream media and ensures that survivor voices are heard by decision-makers in the community and province.

Staff and community members also work on the “Violence Against Women Advocate Case Review Project” with the Regina Police Service. Four times a year, they review all sexual assault files that ended with no charges and provide observations and recommendations for enhancing investigations and victim interviews.

Centre has a working relationship with Regina’s sexual assault forensic nurses and ensures that every patient seeking medical attention for sexual violence is offered the choice to have an advocate present during the procedure and further connects them to information and resources.
