Inclusive Education:

• Inclusive K-12 – advocates for quality education where children with developmental disabilities are welcomed into regular classrooms in their neighborhood schools. In an inclusive classroom, children with developmental disabilities, their peers, and their teachers receive the support they need to be successful.

If families encounter poor quality inclusive education or resistance, Inclusion Lloydminster will provide advocacy resources for as long as it takes to ensure a successful outcome.

• Inclusive Post-Secondary Education – In a partnership with Inclusion Alberta’s Inclusive Post-Secondary initiative, students with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to enroll in faculties and programs to pursue individualized learning goals related to regular course content.

  ▶ These students participate in the same learning activities as their peers, such as assignments, practicums, exams, and study groups. They are supported to be successful through the adaptation and modification of materials and experiences as necessary. Students, classmates, instructors and Inclusive Post-Secondary Facilitators collaborate to create inclusive learning experiences for all. Additionally, students supported by Inclusive Post-Secondary Education are encouraged to expand their student roles by engaging in extracurricular activities such as clubs, student associations, recreation, and social activities.
