Service Description
A free program that helps Immigrant Women learn sewing skills for their personal and professional empowerment.
Helps participants:
- Learn basic sewing skills
- Learn about culture by interacting with youth
- Improve English conversation skills
- Make new friends
- Gain valuable skills that can be used in future for employment
- Learn about Aboriginal Beading.
Topics Covered:
- Learn parts of electric sewing machine and its various parts
- Learn two basic embroidery stitches
- Learn to cut and sew a top, a pair of slacks and a dress
- Learn to cut and sew a pillowcase
- Learn to cut a sew a Christmas Stocking
- Learn to cut, sew and stuff a pillow and apply stitchery or bead work
