Service Description

Provides children with a temporary, safe, and stable home while Kanaweyimik’s protection unit works with the birth family to strengthen and reunite them.

There are different types of foster care placements: short term, emergency, respite, and long-term placements. The child’s needs will dictate the type of placement needed.

Eligibility

Foster parents must be adults with or without biological children. They can be single, married, divorced or widowed. Foster parents must be willing and able to provide the basic necessities for children in care, and work as a member of a professional team.
