Philosophy
- Believe that by providing children with quality childcare they can get them ready for school.
- Believe they need to educate the “whole” child meaning they teach the children skills needed for school, but also foster the children’s social and emotional development, problem solving skills, independence, cognitive development, physical development, and spiritual development.
- Believe children deserve the right to learn in a variety of different ways – they design the room and program in a way that gives children the chance to develop in all skill areas.
- Work closely with parents as they find it is the best way to support the children – they communicate and create relationships with all the parents so it is easy to discuss sensitive topics.
- Director has an open door open policy so parents can always come in and talk to them at any time.
Programs and Activities
- Have a play-based program – follow the play and exploration philosophy and arrange the room and program to support that.
- Base the program off the needs and interests of the children at the time – staff make time to ask children what they want to learn about and change the program to meet their needs.
- Believe no two children are the same, which means staff are always making adaptions to make the program better for the children – sometimes this means giving the child more time to finish a project, warning the children well in advance that something else is going to happen, and adapting the activities so it meets the needs of all the children.
- Never have set time lines on when things need to be done – staff allow children lots of free time to play and learn through the activities set out to give them the best learning experiences.
- Staff are always around and circling through the children as well so staff are always there to ask questions to the kids to further their learning on the subject.
- The structure of the day looks different for every age group, but in each age group they allow time for indoor and outdoor play (weather permitting), child-led and adult- led activities, free play, circle time, rest time, and creative arts.
Nutrition
- Believe nutrition is important because children need to be given the right foods to help them grow and learn properly.
- Provide a snack in the morning, lunch, and a snack in the afternoon – all snacks and meals come with either fruit or vegetables – they serve milk twice a day – lunch consists of something from every food group.
- They try to arrange the menu so that children are eating high quality foods that are low in sugar to ensure they are giving them a healthy diet.
- Children with special diets are generally asked to bring their own meals – if it is something simple that they can avoid feeding the child, they will adjust for that child.
